Amazon FBA & Fulfillment

Amazon FBA Prep Checklist: 7 Common Rejection Reasons to Avoid

Missing or incorrect FNSKU labels, wrong poly bagging, and mismatched carton counts are the fastest ways to get an FBA shipment held at receiving. Here are the seven mistakes that cause it most often.

  1. Missing or incorrect FNSKU labels - every unit needs Amazon's own barcode covering (or alongside, depending on category) the manufacturer barcode, correctly linked to your listing.

  2. Poly bagging without suffocation warnings - any poly bag with a 5-inch or larger opening needs a printed suffocation warning per Amazon policy, or the shipment gets flagged.

  3. Incorrect carton weight or dimensions on the shipping plan - cartons that don't match what you declared during shipment creation cause receiving discrepancies and delays.

  4. Missing or wrong "Made In" country labeling - required on the product or packaging for most categories, and checked during receiving.

  5. Bundled items not properly identified - if you're selling a multi-pack or bundle, it needs its own bundle-specific barcode, not just the barcodes of the individual components.

  6. Fragile items without adequate protective packaging - Amazon's fulfillment centers handle inventory roughly; anything that arrives damaged due to inadequate packaging can result in reimbursement disputes, not just rejected units.

  7. Incorrect unit count per carton vs. the shipping plan - miscounts trigger a manual recount at the warehouse, which delays your shipment's availability for sale.

Every one of these is avoidable with correct prep before the shipment ships from China - which is the entire point of doing FBA prep at the source instead of discovering these problems after a rejected shipment sits in limbo.
